| Just so I actually update this thing when there's not a character meme thing going on... Hello new and newish people! I haven't put up a current character list or a character graveyard. It's one of those things I've always intended to do but I never get around to. I will. One day, I will. Today likely isn't that day, unfortunately. I take far too many character memes. I'm sorry about this. However it gives me insight into some characters, tiny details I didn't have before. And also forces me to look at things that annoy me about previous versions of characters so I might change them. I have a fairy tale /nuthouse game in the works. Eventually. If you see any random talk about Alice, Gretel, and an Emperor? That's for it. I have had a goal foreverandever of having one day played each of the Black cousins. I'm hilariously short of this goal by three, although I've been dying to play Andromeda somewhere. I play superpowered games. I usually pick useless powers for the sheer humor of it. I also would like to try a mythology game. The character I'd love to play most in any fandom EVER is Charlie Dalton from Dead Poets Society. I'd also love to play a Velvet Goldmine character, either Mandy or Arthur. I don't do panfandom, so this will likely never happen. :( | ||||

| It's funny how learning new things about history gives you a new perspective on your characters, sometimes. I have my Dorea Black as wanting to be a chef after she finishes school. I knew it's a hard field for a woman to get into even now, but I didn't know until a few days ago how hard it really was in her day. I was browsing TV freaking Tropes of all places and came across the fact that until the eighties, female chefs were practically unheard of, because women weren't considered smart enough to do it. And the few women that tried were harassed and threatened (or worse) until they left the field. So the one aspect I gave to my tomboy character to soften her up... actually really does the exact opposite, from a historical point of view. Rock on, Dor. I'm... still not fine, but I'm healing. I actually made it through the day for the first time without crying. I'm still sad, but it's not consuming me like it was. I miss her, and I'm always going to miss her, but I'm able to function again. And I think I'm ready to get back to rping again. And I know, I have memes to answer, too. I love you guys. <3 | ||||

| The girl who gave Cleo to me when she was just a small ball of fluff (so small she fit comfortably in one hand. Half siamese and the runt of the litter.) messaged me today. She had kept one cat out of the litter, Venus, and she'd been having many of the same health problems that Cleo had been having at the end. She said that she was pretty sure Venus was dying and that she'd be gone by the time she got home from work. She sounded like a total mess, and I hopefully will get to see her sometime this week. She was there for me, and I want to be there for her, too. In a weird way, it helps to know that she'll have her sister soon. I know she hasn't seen her since they were weaned, but I'm sure there's still a connection. It also helps to know that there really wasn't anything I could have done, even if I'd known what was wrong. It was just her time. I still miss her every day, still cry for her every day. But I know we did the right thing for her, and I'm glad I was with her when she passed away. I'd been so afraid I'd be at work and she'd be alone, and I don't think I would have been able to handle that. For everyone who has commented to me, imed me, emailed me, thank you. I can't begin tell you how much it means to me. | ||||

| I really need a distraction, so I'm doing this meme again: Choose one or more characters of mine, and I will use the Polyvore App to create an outfit they would wear on any given day. (Or, conversely, specify a special event/day and I will make an outfit based around that! For example, a wedding or a funeral. | I couldn't wait until friday. Cleo kept crying this morning until Mom and I both came to her, and she just kept wheezing and shaking, but petting us and wanting to be petted. We took her to the vet, and they did an x-ray. There was a tumor that took up most of her chest cavity. We had to let her go. Goodbye, Cleopatra. Mommy loves you so much. | ||||

| I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have Cleo in my life much longer. She'll be 16 in march, and her health has deteriorated quickly over the past couple of months. We're taking her to the vet Friday, but I'm already prepared to hear the worst. She wheezes when she breathes, she isn't able to have a bowel movement, doesn't always remember to use the litterbox when she pees, and she's lost down to 4.8 lbs. She's crying right now, and I don't know what to do. I'm afraid that I'm about to lose my adopted furry daughter and best friend. My heart is breaking. She's the most beautiful, intelligent, loving cat in the world. She's loved me when I haven't loved myself. My world isn't going to be the same without her in it. | ||||

I am late on things as per always, since Christie already posted about this like a week ago. But she's starting ![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} thehomefront, a Riddle-era PSL with one of her friends. Somehow I got roped into being a co-mod, which I really don't understand, but hey! Anyway there are lots of holds already, so it looks like it's going to be super active. But we still have quite a lot of characters that need to be filled! And Quidditch players. If you want to play quidditch, WE WANT YOU. We've adjusted canon birth years a bit to give the maximum number of named characters we can, but you can also play the parents or grand parents of marauder or trio era characters! We left plenty of room. If you want to play a professor, we have professors! | Still seven characters left on favourite character meme! A few hints, since I seem to be hard to guess for. 1. I have a weird thing about side characters. Seriously, most of the time I'm meh about the main cast. 2. Four of them are blonde. 3. If you read the comments, you might be able to make better guesses. One someone guessed soclose in the right fandom, and then got just a bit colder with their second guess. Another one guessed correctly for another fandom and said why she picked the one she did for me. That character has things in common with another character. | ||||

| I'm on vacation, and right now working at going through boxes. Mine, this time, not Mom's. Things from the fire last year, when we set everything aside when we couldn't deal with it anymore. The ones I'm going through now are, I think, from my desk. Cards, photos, letters. Some of them are from friends I still have. Some of them from people I haven't seen since school. Some were friends I made online and haven't spoken to in years. I'm reading them all before I decide to toss or keep, and I just have the deepest ache in my chest right now. I have loved everyone these are from, considered them some of my closest friends. We just lost touch, somehow, and aren't in each other's lives now. No one's fault, of course. People drift away over time. It doesn't make it any less painful, though. Back to sorting. | ||||
